We want to make Edinburgh Lindy Exchange accessible to dancers no matter their financial situation. Our community fund offers support to dancers who may not otherwise be able to attend. Support is typically offered either through financial subsidies/scholarships, or guaranteed hosting, however we are open to other suggestions!
Applications for our community fund open prior to registration and start to be processed prior to ticket sales. This is because we know how stressful it can be applying for support after general registration opens, with the additional panic of tickets potentially selling out.
You can see ticket types and prices advertised on our Registration page.
How to apply
This year, applications to our community fund open on the 1st May 2025 and will remain open for the duration of ticket sales.
The community fund is open to those interested in purchasing a full pass only.
We’ll review applications as they come in and be in touch to confirm the support we’re able to offer you. Whilst support is not guaranteed, our aim is to offer as much support to as many people as possible.
You will be informed of a decision on your application to the community fund as soon as possible after your application has been received. Note that if you are successful in being offered support, this does not guarantee you a space at the event, and you will still need to register for a ticket as normal.
Support available
Guaranteed hosting
ELX does not coordinate hosting for the event. However, if a guarantee of somewhere to stay is what makes attending this event a possibility for you, please complete the form to give us more detail.
Paying in instalments
Paying in instalments is a way of spreading the cost of your ELX ticket. Dancers are able to pay for a full pass (£125 up to 18/08/2025, £135 after 18/08/2025) to ELX in three instalments.
- Instalment 1: £45, by 1st June 2025
- Instalment 2: £40, by 14th July 2025
- Instalment 3: £40, by 18th August 2025.
Full terms and conditions for this payment plan can be seen on our Terms and Conditions page.
Financial subsidy or scholarship
We may be able to offer you a discount on the price of a ticket. Complete the form to let us know how much of a discount would make a pass affordable for you.
Other
There is also space on this form for you to tell us about other adjustments that might make attendance possible for you that aren’t necessarily financial, such as a shared ticket between parents.
How to contribute
Pay it forward
When registering for your ELX ticket, there will be the opportunity to contribute to the community fund through a pay it forward donation.
Offer to host
Whilst ELX will generally not coordinate hosting for attendees, if you are a local Edinburgh dancer who would like to offer guaranteed hosting as part of the community fund, get in touch with us at bookings@edinburghlindyexchange.co.uk.
Unclaimed funds
We aim to distribute as much support as we can. However, any additional Pay It Forward donations which have not be used by attendees will be donated to the Black Lindy Hoppers Fund.
We first introduced our community fund for ELX 2023, were blown away by the generosity of attendees. Thanks to donations from 52 dancers, we were able to help 4 dancers attend. We received a total of £320 in donations, of which £185 was distributed. The remaining £135 was donated to Indepen-dance and the Frankie Manning Foundation.
In 2024, we received £255 in donations and were lucky to be able to offer the entirety to support attending dancers.
