Welcome Party

ELX 2026 kicks off with our Welcome Party on Friday evening!

We’ll be hosting a mini ceilidh between band sets! Sigurd will be our “caller” and will keep us right with the steps.

There is no bar at this venue but you can bring your own alcohol.

This floor is a little slippy, so you might want a shoe with a little bit of grip.

A luggage storage area is available for those arriving and coming straight to the party. Make sure you arrange to meet up if you’re a host or being hosted by one of our lovely local dancers. 

Fast Feet Social

Time: 10:00 – 13:00

Love balboa? Love shag? Just love fast dancing?? Fully wake yourself up with our Fast Feet Social. We’ll have some excellent swing tunes in the higher tempos perfect for balboa and shag, and plenty of tea and coffee to sustain those energy levels.

Procession to the Mound

Time: 12:30 – 12:45

Keep those feet dancing as we all head down to the outdoor music at the Mound.  Join our procession with live music from Greyfriars Kirk to the Mound.

Swing outside at the Mound

Time: 12:45 – 15:00
Venue: The Mound Precinct (beside The National Gallery), EH2 2EL
Band: Trad Rags Trio

Join us for some outdoor dancing to yet another live band in the beautiful Edinburgh sunshine.

Bring your full water bottle as we’re not able to provide water at this venue. This area is very central so there are shops and cafes nearby if you need to purchase refreshments.

Please look after your belongings. There will be an area for bags, but it’s a public space so don’t bring anything that you value that you are not able to keep on your person.  

Wet weather arrangements

On the very slim chance that the weather is not suitable for dancing outdoors (it is Scotland after all!), we will remain in Greyfriars Kirk after the Fast Feet Social.  Keep an eye on our social media for updates and fingers crossed for sunshine!

The ELX Ball

Dress to impress at the main event, our fabulous Saturday night ball! This is our final dance in Greyfriars Kirk so enjoy this beautiful space one last time. Be ready to crank up the energy and swing out hard!

Late Night After Party

Time: 00:00 – 03:00
Venue: Mash House, 37 Guthrie St, Edinburgh

Continue dancing into the wee hours with our late night blues after party.

This venue has a bar, so please do not bring alcohol with you.

Please accept our apologies and note that this venue does not have step-free access or accessible bathrooms.

Sunday morning meetup

Time: from 12:00
Venue: The Snug, Assembly Roxy, 2 Roxburgh Pl, Edinburgh, EH8 9SU

Come along for informal hang out time from 11:00, and chill out with new pals over a coffee and a board game. The perfect opportunity to spend some time getting to know the excellent people you danced with the night before.

There will be space at the venue to leave luggage, although note that this is at your own risk. Left luggage is also available at Waverley Station.

Live music session

Time: 13:00 – 15:30
Venue: Assembly Roxy, 2 Roxburgh Pl, Edinburgh, EH8 9SU

Join local dancers as they swap their dance shoes for their musical instruments. There’s also the option for you to take part – keep your eyes peeled for more information closer to the event.

This activity is open to all, whether a musician or not. There will be space to dance as well as space to chill out and listen.

We’d recommend slippier shoes for this venue’s dancefloor.

Sunday Tea Dance

Time: 13:00 – 15:30

After a chilled out start to the Sunday, join us for our afternoon tea party, where we’ll have plenty of cake to keep you going!

The floor at this venue is quite sticky, so we recommend some of your slippier soles for this dancefloor.

Baking

We invite you to bring along some of your delicious home baking for our tea dance. The more bakers the better!

Mama’s Stew Taster Class

Time: 15:30 – 16:30

Sash (she/they) will be teaching us the Mama Stew routine in preparation for the Sunday Farewell Social (we might have put a little request in for this to be on the set list…) 

Sunday Farewell Social

This is our last live band of the weekend so come and catch those last few dances with friends old and new and join us in saying goodbye.
