We are excited to be able to start to share some of the activities for  ELX 2017. More details will be coming, so keep checking back.

We have some great venues for you this year. We will be returning to some favourites, but not necessarily for the same events, so be sure to check the schedule below carefully. We are also including some new venues which we are super excited about. Find the locations on our venue map.

  • Welcome Party

    ELX 2017 will kick off on Friday evening with the Welcome Party. We are excited to have the amazing Hot Sugar Band to open the weekend.

    Dress? Wear a t-shirt from your local dance class or favourite dance camp.

    Note: There won’t be a bar at the venue but you can bring your own.

  • Balboa Brunch

    Start your day with some Balboa. We’ll have some snacks, teas and coffees to help easy you into the day. Worth getting going early for all you Balboa fans. The DJs will be on hand with some Balboa-friendly tracks to get your Saturday off to a great start.

    Dancing in the Park

    Join us as we take the party through the streets. What could be better? Live music and the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. It wouldn’t be ELX, without of great friend Ali Affleck, providing the music, backed by her Bedlam Swing band.(We will stay at Old St Paul’s if the weather is bad).

    Saturday Night Dance

    It’s time for the main event. As this is our 10th year we are celebrating by returning to the grandeur of the Edinburgh Assembly Rooms with its fabulous chandeliers. With the sensational Hot Sugar Band play the music that will keep you dancing every dance.

    Where? the Music Hall at the Edinburgh Assembly Rooms

    Dress? It’s time to really glam it up. Bring out the sequins and ties.

    Note: This is a licensed venue and there will be a bar at this venue.

    Blues After Party

    But wait the night’s not over! We have the Blues dance until the wee hours of the morning or come and wind down with some mellow music at our favourite Blues hall. Following the fantastic feedback from last year, we are pleased to have Ali Affleck return this time with the Gin Mill Genies.

    You might want to bring a change of clothes so you’re comfortable dancing all through the night!

    Note: There won’t be a bar at the venue but you can bring your own beer and wine. This venue does not allow other alcohol so make sure you finish those drinks at the main party.

    The Night bus N22 will take you to Princes Street (city centre) all through the night.

  • Swing on a Sunday Afternoon Tea Dance

    A must for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Dancing to the sounds of Swing 2017, with tea and cake.

    Sunday Evening Pub Quiz

    Now a favourite feature of ELX. A chance to rest those tired dancing legs and hang out with your friends, old and new.

    Challenge yourself and your table with our after dinner activities. You will be able to request dinner as part of your booking, and you will receive a dinner ticket at registration on the Friday night, make sure you keep this safe and can present it at the dinner. See the Sample Menu.

    Sunday Night Wrap Up Dance

    One final chance to catch those dances with old and new dance friends, before we have to say good bye to ELX 2017.
